PROTECTED WILDERNESS AREAS
Keeping nature safe, healthy and resilient
Our proposal for a Wilderness Act was accepted in 1987 and resulted in more than 2,100,000 hectares of protected wilderness in NSW, including many of the wild places bordering Sydney’s urban sprawl that people like you can continue to experience today. By securing legal protection for large, ecologically undisturbed wild landscapes, we can nurture resilient ecosystems, insure against biodiversity loss and provide a buffer against the impacts of climate change.
