Dear Premier Minns,
I am writing to urge you to declare the Great Koala National Park (GKNP) without any further delays and contingencies.
As you are well aware that creation of the GKNP has been a Labour election promise for over 11 years and it is high time this be delivered. Delaying the declaration is only helping erode the support of Australians who voted for Labour.
The progress made in announcing the park and a moratorium on ceasing logging operations, has sadly been undermined by the continuing of logging combined with the use of police and anti-protest legislation to protect loggers during operations which routinely breach the Government's own regulations.
It should be clear to you that further delay in declaration of the park just leaves the Government‘s environmental credibility as tattered as many of the forests the Government promised to protect.
I care deeply for native forests and wildlife and would like to see this critical Koala habitat protected immediately.
